How could I have forgotten?
How easily memories are left behind,
How they fade into the backdrops
Of lives not left so far in the past.
The sounds of your voice quickly faded
Forgotten by memories and time,
Yet only waiting for the shattering response
Of my ears to hear your name.
Your smile my muse had ignored -
Remembering no more the way to express
The incompleteness of myself
All this comes rushing like a flood;
Through all my thoughts with just a sight,
A thought, a memory of the life
I hadn't noticed I'd forgotten.
